Employment

Yukon has a small but diverse and growing economy. Jobs in public administration, retail trade, food and beverage services, childcare and health care, construction, and educational services are always in demand.

As an immigrant, your education and work experience are important to finding a job in Canada. Even if you have many years of experience, you may not be able to work in your trade or profession in Canada right away. In most cases, you will need to have your credentials assessed. Also, anyone who works in Canada, whether a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, will need to have a Social Insurance Number (SIN). See www.workingincanada.gc.ca for more information.

The Multicultural Centre of the Yukon can assist immigrants with information on where to look for work, provide them with skills to enter the labour force, and assist in the recognition of their foreign credentials.
